Meet your instructor

Hi, I’m Jill Nadon, founder and instructor at The Beat. I started working as a fitness instructor in 2009 and quickly discovered that the best fitness classes were the ones where the members felt connected and comfortable. When we feel like a part of something, belonging to a special community, we become unstoppable!

In 2020 I took a leap of faith to create my ideal welcoming fitness community in the neighbourhood of Burnaby Heights. We created an amazing space where people could get fit and connect. Unfortunately the impacts of the pandemic significantly impacted the business long after restrictions and precautions were lifted. I made the difficult choice to close the studio location at the end of August 2023.

If the pandemic taught us anything, it was how to be resilient and adaptable. From those principles, The Beat On Demand was born. While providing classes thought the online platform is the majority of what I do with The Beat now, you can still find me teaching corporate classes, facilitating challenges & workshops, and popping up for special events and registered session classes (online & in person). If you want to be notified when & where I’ll be teaching, sign up for the newsletter here.

I love creating community and accessibility in fitness. To continue this work, I (try to) post regularly on Instagram and Youtube, so head over there to check it out!

I’d love to connect. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions you might have.

ABOUT JILL

Growing up, I was always interested in group activities, but was never really interested in (or lets be honest - good at!) team sports. I tried gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading but none of those were quite the right fit. In 2009 I took my first group fitness training and LOVED it.

The idea that you can do something active and enjoy the energy of a group while only being responsible for yourself was very appealing! I completed my first group fitness certification through the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association in 2009. Since then, I’ve taken many more specialty trainings and certifications, worked in all types of gyms, community centres, fitness facilities, and boutique studios. Throughout all those years, I was always observing and studying what made certain classes, studios, or instructors successful.

The Beat is the result of all those years of exploration and observation. Our classes focus on the basic components of fitness - strength, cardio, mobility - and infuse energy to create effective workouts that keep you coming back for more. Working out in a supportive, safe, and motivating community is important to us. We recognize that everyone’s journey is unique, and we’re here to meet you where you’re at. The Beat is a place where you can feel good about yourself every day. A place where you can workout at your own pace. A place where you can march to the beat of your own drum.

Imagine what the fitness industry could look like if we were encouraged to just be ourselves!
